Knee Pain Treatment: What Causes It and How You Can Cure it Naturally
72Our knees are probably the most easily get injured part of the body. The knees support our whole body all the time and the pressure that they have to endure is tremendous. The knee is the largest and most complicated joint that we use for everything; from as simple as standing up or sitting down to walking, jogging, jumping, running and etc. The knees are well designed weight-bearing joints that could straighten, bend, twist and rotate. However, doing this extremely will increase the risk of knee injury.
Involving in sports (and playing it extremely) such as soccer, basketball, football, volleyball and tennis could lead to acute knee injuries. These sports normally require the player to run, jump and doing sudden stopping and turning; these activities which often get the knee twisted will increase the risk of an acute knee injury.
Those are doing extreme sports but the most common knee injuries are often caused by overuse and overload. Overuse knee injuries do not happen overnight, it develops gradually over the days or weeks. These injuries include muscle strain, tendonitis and bursitis and the pain quite often start mildly and intermittent before getting worsen over time. This is even true if not the person does not treat it.
When the muscles and tendons are stressed, particular when doing heavy
exercise or lifting heavy things, tiny microscopic tears will occur
(this is true even if the stress is just slightly over their
capabilities). These tears will heal on themselves but you must give a
chance for them; for that you need to rest before involving in the same
type of activities again. Inflammation which is part of the healing
process is what causes the pain. So it’s very normal to feel the pain if
you have been doing extreme exercises. Besides, if you are doing weight
lifting, you must always know how far you can go, else you will end up
injuring yourself.
Moreover, knee pain is also very common by doing the same thing
repetitively (too much and too soon) particular if you haven’t exercised
for long period of time. This is especially true for activities that
involve high impacts aerobics that cause over stress on the knee. To
avoid this, start the exercise slowly and don’t over do them.
Knee Pain Treatment: You Can Do It At Home
For people who are not having serious knee injury that require surgery, you can try out below tips to treat your knee pain:
- Make Your Knee Stronger - The philosophy behind this is very simple, to make any part of your body pain free, you need to make it stronger. When it is stronger, it's endurance will increase and thus, it can support more weight and not getting injured more easily in the future. A good way to strengthen your knee is to doing exercise that will strengthen your quadriceps because this part of the muscles directly relates to your knees stability. So the more strength in the quads, the better your knee will feel. The best exercise for this is cycling, make it at least half an hour a day and that will do it.
- Keep The Knee Relaxed - To enable your knee in relax mode, make sure that it is fully extended by itself, meaning you are not forcing doing it. If you do it forcefully, it would even cause more knee pain. To reduce any swelling, you can put some ice on it for about fifteen minutes. Doing so will help relieve the pain by restricting blood flow.
- Massage Your Knee - You can also try massaging your knee and the most effective way to do it is by slowly moving your patella in a circular motion. Do it slowly, gently but firmly will loosen the unstable tissue within the knee and helps get rid of it. .
- Stretching - Stretching also helps a lot as it releases the unnecessary tension our from your knees. Sit down slowly and with your legs straight out in front of you. Reach for them with both of your hands and hold for ten seconds and repeat a few times. Stop doing it if you feel further pain.
- Wear A Knee Brace - If the pain is very constant and might obstruct your job, you might want to try wearing a brace. A knee brace will keep your knee stabilized while walking and doing so is very important to reducing the pain. Stabilizing it can help the healing of scar tissue as well.
Well, I hope that the above tips will serve you in your knee pain treatment course. And again if you case is severe, don't wait and quickly consult your doctor. Procrastinate will only worsen he situation.

Wearing a knee brace all the time is not a good thing because it will weaken your muscles. I believe only during initial recovery you should wear one. : )
Strengthening your knee joints through constant, but not severe, physical activities is needed to prevent knee injuries. Mild exercise such as brisk walking can aid in fortifying our joints. This is a great post!
