Is Thread Face Lift Safe and Effective?

By

'Thread face lift', which is also quite commonly known as 'string face lift' is one of the most highly celebrated innovations in the cosmetic surgery field. This face lift procedure drew a lot of publicity when it made its debut few years ago. There were people who felt skeptical it and there were also people who were impressed by this advanced non surgical face lift procedure. It was hard to believe that such simple procedure could be the next better alternative to a full-blown face lift surgery; its effectiveness undoubtedly could be questioned.

Although patients who have undergone thread face lift procedure were quite impressed and satisfied with the overall results (improved appearance, more youthful look and higher self-esteem), however, the bigger concern still remains, whether or not the benefits of this procedure outweigh its safety entirely and positively.

Thread face lift do have more advantages over conventional face lift surgery: it is far less costly than a real face lift surgery, patients require shorter amount of time to recover and which they won't suffer a lot compares to as when going under the knife.

What is exactly thread face lift?

Thread face lift is classified as a non-invasive face lift surgical procedure that involves inserting and weaving thin, clear threads or strings into the muscle tissue underneath the surface of the skin. The strings used would have tiny little barbs that could cling on the excess muscles tissues and which extended up to the back of the ears. Once everything is done, the strings that attached to those excess muscles will be pulled according. And they are supposed to anchor the sagging skin, stretch it and keep it lifted until the collagen builds up to make the tissues firmer and toned.

There are two methods of thread face life procedure, namely the FeatherLift and ContourLift. Either method is able to elevate and fix the sagging mid section of the face, brows and neck. The best candidates for this thread lift method are people who just want a minor lift with minimal signs of aging, particular within the age range of 35 to 45.

Other than that, this method is also beneficial to people who have had done a traditional face-lift before and need a little more after time as support for the soft tissue around the neck and under the eyes. String lifts could be the way to rejuvenate the previous surgery done years before; it is a better choice compares to another full-blown face lift surgery.

It is important to point out here that the thread face lift procedure does not bring permanent results. Over time, as the patient continues to age, the skin and tissues will sag again and this is quite obvious when he or she gain weight. To rectify this situation, the patient will need to go back to the doctor so that the strings can be tightened and readjusted, thus, stretching the skin more and lifting it up again as before. It would said that any patient that has decided to undergo such procedure is ready for a series of strings tightening and readjusting over the time.

Thread Face Lift Concern and Effectiveness

The most important concern above all is that the thread face lift method has not been proven to be entirely safe by surgery experts or scientific studies. Until now, no scientific and medical studies that could back up the effectiveness of this procedure and not to mention also the safety of the process and the materials used. The claim that this is a total non-invasive face lift procedure is not entirely accurate. Imagine introducing foreign object, which in this case, threads into the muscles tissues beneath the skin and left there, would that be 100% safe? The body could react adversely to the string while waiting for collagen to build up and strengthen.

Moreover, there were cases where the patients did not show any improvements at all after the procedure is done, they remained the same as prior of the process. Sometimes, in the case where the patients have thin skin, the sutures beneath the skin will become visible after the procedure is completed. This will surely make matter worse.

Those are the reasons why many professional cosmetic surgeons who do not want to perform thread face lift procedure. It is not yet a legitimate and safe alternative to a full-blown face lift procedure. More clinical studies are needed to be done before the effectiveness and risk of this procedure could be accessed accurately. Perhaps thermage face lift procedure is more recommended compare to a thread face lift method.

I like the balanced report you gave here - I've been curious about thread lifts and some other techniques that are supposed to work miracles and be non-invasive. I even mentioned some of this in a recent hub about truth in advertising. But I'd also like to know what works and what doesn't work.

Excellent hub, and I can't wait to visit your other links! Voted up, useful and interesting. Also SHARED & sent to some friends.

Great hub. I'm all for it. Anything one can do to improve his/her looks is great. Thanks for discussing the not so traditional alternative.
